WATER

I grew up being told that water is life and life is precious. This enlightened me about the fact that water plays avery key role in the life of all organisms. Upon further investigations, i got to know more bout it. This piece is an introduction to what i will be sharing on this blog.

Water covers 71% of the earth's surface and is vital for all known forms of life(plants, hmans and animals).95% of the planet's water is found in seas and oceans. Water on Earth moves continually through the water cycle of evaporation and transpiration (evapotranspiration), condensation, precipitation, and runoff, usually reaching the sea. Evaporation and transpiration contribute to the precipitation over land.

Scientifically, water contains two hydrogen atoms and One oxygen atom with its chemical symbol as  H
2
O.

Water contain no calories or organic nutrients but it is essential to humans and other life forms
Water can dissolve many different substances, giving it varying tastes and odors. Humans and other animals have developed senses that enable them to evaluate the potability of water by avoiding water that is too salty or putrid.

Water can be safe or unsafe for consumption.Safe drinking water is water good for consumption, that has no negative health implications on all known life forms.Unsafe drinking water is contaminated and therefore will have negative implications on human. Other life forms like plants and animals are exceptional. Safe drinking water is used with low risk of immediate or long term harm.

Over large parts of the world, humans have inadequate access to potable water and use sources contaminated with disease vectors, pathogens or unacceptable levels of toxins or suspended solids. Drinking or using such water in food preparation leads to widespread acute and chronic illnesses and is a major cause of death and misery in many countries. Reduction of waterborne diseases is a major public health goal in developing countries

In Ghana, the supply of water to households, industries and other places of work meet safe drinking standards. Water supplied is not fully consumed. Only a small proportion of it is consumed i.e. drank and used for cooking. It is also used for other domestic purposes like washing and landscape irrigation.
Earth surface waters are filled with life. The earliest life forms appeared in water; nearly all fish live exclusively in water.

This piece is just to introduces what i will be doing on this site.....
